The National Battlefields Commission would like to inform all motorists that Gilmour Hill will be closed to traffic on Tuesday, December 2, due to work to be performed December 1 and 2 to facilitate snow removal, as per Ville de Québec winter maintenance objectives for hills classified “level 0.”
Highlights
- The new configuration of the two intersections (Montcalm/George VI and De Laune/Côte Gilmour) make snow removal a challenge. Improvements will be made to the turning circle and road boundaries in two sections of Gilmour Hill: Montcalm and De Laune.
- De Laune/ Gilmour Hill intersection:
- Word to be performed Monday, December 1, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
- Gilmour Hill will remain open between Boulevard Champlain and Avenue Montcalm throughout work
- Traffic flow between De Laune and Gilmour Hill will be overseen by flaggers
- Montcalm/George VI intersection:
- Work will be performed Tuesday, December 2, between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m.
- Gilmour Hill will be closed to all traffic between boulevard Champlain and Montcalm Avenue for the duration of the work
- Work in these sections is a temporary measure. Final improvements will be completed in spring 2015, as weather conditions are not optimal at this time.
- This temporary measure is a necessary readjustment made by National Battlefields Commission, typical of projects of this scale.
- We would like to remind motorists that signage is still in place on Grande Allée and Boulevard Champlain reporting the current status of Gilmour Hill (open or closed). Information is also available by phone at 418 648-4212 or online at www.theplainsofabraham.ca.
