Ottawa – The December issue of the Financial System Review will be released on Wednesday, 10 December 2014.

Description

The Financial System Review features the following sections:

Risk Assessment: This section outlines the Governing Council’s evaluation of the key risks to the Canadian financial system. After a brief survey of macrofinancial conditions, the principal risks are examined. The objective of the Financial System Review is not to predict the most likely outcomes for the financial system but to raise early awareness of key risks and promote mitigating actions.

Reports: This issue features the following reports, which examine, in greater depth, selected issues of relevance to the financial system:

Cyber Security: Protecting the Resilience of Canada’s Financial System
Exchange-Traded Funds: Evolution of Benefits, Vulnerabilities and Risks

Lock-Up

At 08:30 (ET), journalists are invited to review the Financial System Review, under embargo, at the Bank’s head office in Ottawa (151 O’Connor Street) and at the regional offices in Toronto (150 King Street West, suite 2000) and Montréal (1501 McGill College Avenue, suite 2030). Please be sure to have your press card with you. For security reasons, those wishing to attend must confirm their presence by calling Media Relations at 613 782-8782 before noon (ET) on Tuesday, 9 December 2014. Journalists who have not registered WILL NOT BE ADMITTED to the lock-up.

At 09:30 (ET), senior Bank officers will respond to questions on the content of the Financial System Review. Journalists in Toronto and Montréal will be linked to the briefing by video conference. Information gathered at the session may be used freely in news reports and commentaries, provided it is not attributed to the Bank or its officers. Electronic recording is not permitted.

At 10:30 (ET), the lock-up ends and the embargo is lifted.

Press Conference

At 11:15 (ET), Stephen S. Poloz, Governor of the Bank of Canada, will hold a press conference at the National Press Theatre, 150 Wellington Street, Ottawa. He will be accompanied by Senior Deputy Governor Carolyn Wilkins.
