The Honourable Bernard Valcourt, Minister of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development, today congratulated the community of Hatchet Lake First Nation on the grand opening of its new fire hall. The hall is equipped to house the community’s fire truck and all related firefighting equipment, as well as provide both office and training space for fire fighters.
The Government of Canada contributed $525,000 toward the $1.2 million project, with the First Nation contributing $365,400 of their own-source funding, to plan, design and construct the hall. Also, Areva Resources Canada and Cameco Corporation each contributed $200,000 toward the project.
