Former Clerk of the Privy Council served the Public Service of Canada for over 30 years

Prime Minister Stephen Harper today announced the appointment of Wayne G. Wouters as Canada’s newest Privy Councillor.
Mr. Wouters is being honoured for his outstanding public service to Canadians which began in 1982, after five years with the Government of Saskatchewan, and culminated with his appointment as Clerk of the Privy Council and Secretary to the Cabinet by the Prime Minister on July 1st, 2009. He retired from the Public Service of Canada on October 6, 2014.
In addition to his immense contributions to public service across a broad range of government departments, Mr. Wouters was also a committed and longstanding volunteer, chairing the Government of Canada Charitable Workplace Campaign in 2004 and the City of Ottawa United Way Campaign in 2007. He was presented with the Community Builder of the Year Award by the United Way in 2012 and received the United WayCanada's highest distinction, the André Mailhot Award, in 2013.
