December 5, 2014 — Ottawa — Industry Canada
Industry Minister James Moore today met with New Jersey Governor Chris Christie in Ottawa during his first official visit to Canada.
Minister Moore and Governor Christie both emphasized their mutual commitment to creating jobs and opportunities for families in Canada and in New Jersey by expanding North American trade opportunities. Canada is New Jersey's largest international trade partner. Last year alone, the trade of goods between the state of New Jersey and Canada accounted for $15.9 billion.
Minister Moore highlighted how Canada's suite of policies—low taxes, investment policies, free trade agenda—make it the number one country in the world to invest in.
Minister Moore and Governor Christie concluded the meeting with a discussion of the benefits of the Keystone XL pipeline on both sides of the border, including jobs, economic growth and North American energy security.
