January 30, 2015 - Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird today issued the following statement condemning the terrorist attacks in the Sinai that killed at least 30 members of the Egyptian security forces and injured over 100 people:
“Canada condemns these brutal terrorist attacks and stands with Egypt in the fight against terrorism. We remain confident that attempts to undermine Egypt’s progress through violence and intimidation will not succeed. As I saw during my recent visit, the Egyptian spirit is stronger than any challenge the terrorists can muster.
“On behalf of Canada, I extend my sympathies to the families and friends of those killed in these attacks and wish a speedy recovery to the wounded.
“Canada will continue to support the Egyptian government’s efforts to combat the threat of terrorism.”
