The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) will hold a public hearing in the community in May 2015 to consider an application from SRB Technologies (Canada) Inc. (SRB) to renew its nuclear substance processing facility licence. SRB is located in Pembroke, Ontario.
SRB has requested a 10-year licence renewal for its tritium processing facility, which currently manufactures self-luminous exit signs. A revised notice of public hearing, confirming the date and location, and providing information on how to participate, will be issued at a later date.
Through its Participant Funding Program (PFP), the CNSC is offering funding to assist members of the public, Aboriginal groups and other stakeholders in reviewing SRB’s application and other relevant documentation specifically related to the application.
Participant funding up to $35,000 is being offered for the provision of new, distinctive and valuable information, through informed and topic-specific interventions. This funding must be used to prepare for and participate in the Commission’s public hearing.
The deadline for submitting a completed participant funding application form to the CNSC is January 9, 2015.
