On January 29, 2015, Garnet Cole, an inmate at Dorchester Penitentiary died at the institutional hospital in Dorchester, New Brunswick.
At the time of his death, Mr. Cole, 82 years old, had been serving a sentence of 12 years, since March 28, 2013, for Rape, Indecent Assault, Sexual Assault and Sexual Interference with a female under 14.
The inmate’s next of kin have been notified of his death.
As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the police and the coroner have been notified, and the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances of the incident.
