Project possible thanks to federal Gas Tax Fund
January 16, 2015 – Warwick, Ontario – Infrastructure Canada
Residents of Warwick Township are now enjoying a smoother ride on Erie and McGregor Streets, thanks to contributions from the federal Gas Tax Fund. Work on the two roads took place between June and December 2014.
The project entailed a complete replacement of four-blocks — two on Erie Street, and two on McGregor Street. In addition to new road surfaces, the streets now have new gutters, curbs and sidewalks. Improvements will increase the functional lifespan of the roads, while providing a safer commute for motorists and pedestrians alike.
"Our Government recognizes that the economic success of Canada depends greatly on the strength of our communities. Since 2006, we have made significant improvements to the federal Gas Tax Fund. It has been extended, doubled, indexed and made permanent to deliver predictable, long-term funding to help municipalities like Warwick build and revitalize public infrastructure like these significant road upgrades. Going forward, our investments through the federal Gas Tax Fund will continue to generate economic growth and job creation across Ontario communities for years to come."
