On February 24, 2015 the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) held a Change of Command Ceremony in the Quebec Region. This occasion marked the change in command from the outgoing Regional Deputy Commissioner (RDC), Ms Johanne Vallée, to the incoming RDC, Mr Alain Tousignant.
The ceremony reinforces the responsibility of leadership in the role of Regional Deputy Commissioner. It represents the symbolic passing of responsibility, authority, and accountability from one correctional leader to another.
"I accepted with pride and enthusiasm, the management of federal corrections in the Quebec Region. I take the direction of a region with dynamic staff and supported by a strong network of partners on which it can rely to complete its duty in all areas of its operations. I think of, among others, the different police services, community organizations, health and education institutions, as well as individuals who, as volunteers member of advisory committees or representatives of interest groups, allow the Correctional Service to be an active organization, recognized within the criminal justice system and the general population", said Mr. Tousignant. This ceremony is an important tradition for CSC. It reaffirms the incoming leader’s pledge to support CSC’s mission and contribute to the safety and security of the public, employees and offenders.
