On February 16, 2015, Randy Hillson, an inmate at Millhaven Institution, was found in need of medical attention in his cell at the institutional hospital.
Staff members immediately began performing CPR and emergency services were called. The inmate could not be resuscitated.
At the time of his death, Mr. Randy Hillson, 37 years old, had been serving a sentence of three years, two months and 25 days for Use of Imitation Firearm in the Commission of an Offence, Robbery-All Others, Fail to Comply with Probation Order and Assault Peace Officer since January 6, 2012.
The inmate’s next of kin have been notified of his death.
As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the police and the coroner have been notified, and Correctional Service Canada will review the circumstances of the incident.
