Robert Fry becomes Ambassador to the Argentine Republic.
Rick Savone becomes Ambassador to the Federative Republic of Brazil.

Robert Fry (LL.B. [Common Law], University of Ottawa, 1992; LL.L [Droit civil], University of Ottawa, 1993) worked as policy adviser to the leader of the government in the Senate (1995 to 1998), senior policy adviser to the minister of Canadian heritage (1998 to 2000), and chief of staff to the deputy prime minister (2000 to 2002) before joining the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade as director of policy (2002 to 2004). Mr. Fry then spent two years as chief of staff to the minister of health (2004 to 2006) before returning to Foreign Affairs Canada in 2006 as senior departmental coordinator for international health and pandemic preparedness. Abroad, Mr. Fry has served as minister-counsellor for political affairs and public diplomacy in London (2007 to 2011). He most recently held the position of director general and corporate secretary in the Corporate Secretariat at Headquarters (2011 to 2014). He is married to Jennifer Reynolds, an international trade lawyer, and they have three children: Emilie, Nicholas and William. Mr. Fry replaces Gwyneth Kutz.
Rick Savone (BA, McGill University, 1995; Executive MBA, Temple University, 2003) joined the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in 1995. In his first posting abroad, he served as manager of political relations at the embassy in Algeria. In 1999, Mr. Savone served abroad as trade commissioner (life sciences) and head of office in Princeton, New Jersey, and in 2003, he was assigned as trade commissioner (energy and investment) to the embassy in Mexico. Mr. Savone was also senior trade commissioner in the consulate general in Minneapolis. At Headquarters, Mr. Savone served as director of the North America Commercial Relations Division, director general of the Geographic Strategy and Services Bureau and director general of the Office of Transformation. In 2012, Mr. Savone was appointed consul general in Shanghai. He will be accompanied by his partner, Nicholas Kuss. Mr. Savone replaces Jamal Khokhar.
