Enactus competition celebrates and rewards excellence in community and entrepreneurial leadership
February 25, 2015 – Halifax, NS – Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA)
Post-secondary students from across Atlantic Canada will gather in Halifax, Nova Scotia, from February 26-27, 2015, for the 2015 Enactus Canada Regional Exposition – Atlantic Canada, an event which celebrates the actions of students who have empowered their communities through entrepreneurship.
The Honourable Rob Moore, Minister of State (Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency), today announced Government of Canada support for the annual competition which will bring together over 200 post-secondary students and academics representing universities and colleges from Atlantic Canada, along with more than 100 business leaders from across the region.
The regional competition offers students the opportunity to showcase, before panels of local business leaders who serve as judges, the innovative community outreach projects and business ventures they have implemented over the academic year. Winners of the prestigious competitions held in each region of the country move on to compete at national and world levels.
During the 2013-2014 academic year alone, Enactus Canada — the largest student leadership development organization in the country — engaged 2,347 students and 118 faculty advisors on 59 campuses, implementing 259 community development projects and employing 1,600 people through skill development and business creation, impacting almost 650,000 people across Canada.
