The Honourable Bal Gosal, Minister of State (Sport), announced the Government of Canada has provided $83,400 to Taekwondo Canada through Sport Canada’s Hosting Program to support the 2015 Canada Open in Toronto from February 13 to 15, 2015.
“We are pleased to support Taekwondo Canada in hosting the 2015 Canada Open. This event will provide our Canadian athletes, coaches and officials with an opportunity to compete in the venue that will host the Taekwondo competition at the Toronto 2015 Pan and Parapan Am Games in just a few short months. This is a huge advantage for our team and why our support for this event is so important. During the Year of Sport in Canada, we celebrate sport, our athletes and the role they play in helping to define our cultural identity.”
—The Honourable Bal Gosal, Minister of State (Sport)
“Thanks to the instrumental support of the Government of Canada, Taekwondo Canada has been able to deliver top-tier events to its members and the growing number of participants from the international community. Not only do we show the world how great our hosting capabilities are, we also get to highlight the wonderful cities in our country. The ability to host international events on Canadian soil is critical to the development and success of our high-performance programs and athletes. The Government of Canada, through Sport Canada’s Hosting Program, has been crucial in our success, and they are an important member of our team.”
