Governments of Canada and Saskatchewan Invest in Municipal Infrastructure

February 5, 2015 – Pierceland, Saskatchewan – Western Economic Diversification Canada

The Rural Municipality of Beaver River will benefit from improved wastewater infrastructure thanks to joint federal and provincial funding announced today by Rob Clarke, Member of Parliament for Desnethé—Missinippi—Churchill River, on behalf of the Honourable Michelle Rempel, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification, and the Honourable Jim Reiter, Saskatchewan’s Minister of Government Relations.

Thanks to the combined support of the Governments of Canada and Saskatchewan, the Rural Municipality of Beaver River will increase the number of subdivisions, households, industries and businesses that are connected to sanitary sewer systems.

The Governments of Canada and Saskatchewan are each investing $267,216 through the Communities Component of the Building Canada Fund (BCF-CC), with the Rural Municipality contributing the remaining balance of the $801,650 project.

Quick Facts

Since 2007, more than 150 municipal infrastructure projects have been funded by the Governments of Canada and Saskatchewan under BCF-CC, benefitting thousands of Saskatchewan residents and their communities.
This project is being funded using savings realized through previous BCF-CC projects coming in under budget, allowing dollars to be recommitted to additional initiatives.
The Building Canada Fund is being replaced by the New Building Canada Plan.
