The Government of Canada’s investment of $1 million in 2015 for Innovations 4 Gold will support the following seven projects through Own the Podium (OTP):
- Assist Alpine Canada research and innovation projects in the areas of competition speed suits, performance analysis, and head injury monitoring and injury prevention screens.
- Assist Bobsleigh Canada in defining “fast” through the use of performance analysis and equipment analysis, fabrication and modification.
- Assist Canoe/Kayak Canada with research into the importance of core strength and stability and their impact on overall performance within the sport.
- Continue the evolution of a multi-sport measurement system to find solutions to the performance analysis requirements of Canada’s targeted Olympic and Paralympic sports.
- Develop an annual sleep, recovery and human performance research initiative into the effectiveness of any interventions and courses of treatment prescribed to targeted athlete/teams.
- Conduct research to assist Canada’s short and long track speed skating national teams to review and update equipment to ensure it is accurate and reliable.
- Assist wheelchair rugby with developing a more efficient performance wheelchair.
