The National Battlefields Commission is pleased to welcome Pentathlon des neiges to the Plains of Abraham for the eighth year in a row. The eleventh edition of the well-loved winter sports competition runs January 31 to March 1, 2015. The Plains also hosted to the second Québec ITU Winter Triathlon.
Highlights
- Plains of Abraham legend Amédée, vice president of the Traders Union Snowshoeing Club (1914), was a proud entrant in the 5 km junior world championship on January 31, 2015. He completed the race and placed a respectable 23rd out of 76—wearing traditional-style snowshoes!
- The Snowshoer (in French only)
Until March 7, 2015, nightly at 7 p.m., the Plains are the place to be for history buffs and winter sports enthusiasts. Don tuques, mittens, arrow sashes, and traditional-style snowshoes and join Amédée to learn all about the Québec Bulldogs double Stanley Cup win, ski jumping, skijoring, winter walks, and so much more. Equipment and hot chocolate included.
- The Snowshoer Family Outing (in French only)
A special event for the school holidays (March 2 to 6): come to the Plains at 2 p.m. for a taste of the winters of yesteryear with an exciting outing on traditional-style snowshoes. Learn about the work that kept our ancestors busy during the long winter months, identify the footprints of various animals, and savour Amédée’s stories over a nice cup of hot chocolate.
