Ottawa – On February 5, 2015, the Honourable Tony Clement, President of the Treasury Board, made the following statement:
“The Government of Canada has posted the results of the 2014 Public Service Employee Survey. Canada’s Public Service is a world-class organization, made up of dedicated and hard-working employees who strive to provide excellent services to Canadians.
I am pleased to see that the vast majority of public servants, almost 9 in 10 employees, are proud of the work they do on behalf of all Canadians, and close to 8 in 10 employees enjoy what they do. Furthermore, nearly all employees surveyed said they had positive working relationships with their co-workers. This bodes well for morale and productivity.
The Government of Canada is committed to providing a safe and equitable work environment for all employees, while ensuring they are treated with dignity and respect. Harassment and discrimination are unacceptable and will not be tolerated. We have implemented policies, and training, as well as formal and informal recourse mechanisms, to ensure that leaders and employees have the tools they need to prevent and resolve workplace harassment and discrimination. We must continue our efforts in these areas.
I am very proud of Canada’s professional public servants and the work they do. I wish every employee success in their respective careers.”
