Non-repayable contribution of $2,100,000 on a total investment of $10,482,889 MBRC supports the growth of the marine biotechnology industry through scientific research and development and industrial transfer activities, notably for the life sciences sector (nutraceutical, cosmeceutical and pharmaceutical).
Businesses are able to rely on the centre for, among other things, the validation and optimization of products or processes, the conducting of technological feasibility studies or the screening and characterization of active substances. Along with these activities and those related to precompetitive research, MBRC also does its own research and development of marine biotechnology products and industrial processes to transfer to private enterprise.
This funding has been granted to support the centre’s operating costs for a 36-month period (July 1, 2014, to June 30, 2017).
