Alpine Canada Alpin receives Government of Canada funding to host international para-Alpine event

David Wilks, Member of Parliament (Kootenay–Columbia), on behalf of the Honourable Bal Gosal, Minister of State (Sport), today announced $200,000 in support to Alpine Canada Alpin, through Sport Canada’s Hosting Program, for the 2015 International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Alpine Skiing World Championships.
The event is taking place at Panorama Ski Resort, in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, from February 28 to March 10.
“We are very proud to be hosting the 2015 IPC Alpine Skiing World Championships, the largest gathering of para-Alpine athletes since the Sochi 2014 Paralympic Winter Games. What a chance for Canadians to cheer our top para-skiers—including some Sochi medal winners—as they compete against the world’s best right here at home. We will be cheering from coast to coast to coast as we celebrate their efforts and achievements during the Year of Sport in Canada.”
