The Honourable Pierre Poilievre, Minister of Employment and Social Development, Minister for the National Capital Commission and Member of Parliament for Nepean–Carleton, announced today the appointment of Dr. Aditya C. Jha as a member of the National Capital Commission (NCC) Board of Directors.
The NCC was established to plan and assist in the development, conservation and improvement of the National Capital Region (NCR) so that the nature and character of the seat of the Government of Canada is in accordance with its national significance. The Commission also organizes, sponsors and promotes public activities and events in the NCR whose goal is to enrich the cultural and social fabric of Canada.
Dr. Jha is a member of the Order of Canada and was conferred an Honorary Doctorate (2009) by the Ted Rogers School of Business Management at Ryerson University, where he serves as a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council for the Faculty of Community Services. He is also a member of the Board of Governors of the Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning. Until recently, he was a member of the First Nations Financial Management Board. He is currently the CEO (International Operations) of Euclid Infotech Pvt. Ltd., an information technology services company based in India that has a customer base in over 100 countries. He brings to the NCC extensive experience in business, public education and community services.

From 1999 to 2001, he was a Board Member and Co-Founder of Isopia Inc., a software company, after a successful career at Bell Canada as the General Manager of eBusiness and Product Marketing. He is currently the CEO (International Operations) of Euclid Infotech Pvt. Ltd., an information technology services company based in India that has a customer base in over 100 countries.
His approach to philanthropy and views on international business have been featured in major newspapers and magazines around the globe.
He was born in Nepal, grew up in India and has worked in Singapore, India, Thailand and Canada.
The National Capital Commission (NCC) is responsible for planning, as well as taking part in, the development, conservation and improvement of Canada’s Capital Region.
The NCC fulfills its mandate through the following areas of activity:
- setting the long-term planning direction for federal lands in Canada’s Capital Region;
- guiding and controlling the use and development of federal lands in Canada’s Capital Region;
- managing, conserving and protecting NCC assets (including Gatineau Park, the Greenbelt, the NCC real property portfolio and other assets such as bridges, pathways and parkways); and
- maintaining heritage sites in Canada’s Capital Region, such as the official residences and commemorative sites.
The NCC board of directors has 15 members, including the chairperson and the chief executive officer (CEO). Thirteen members represent the regions across Canada:
- five are from the Capital Region; and
- eight are from other regions of the country.
As set out in the National Capital Act, they are appointed by the minister responsible for the NCC, with the approval of the Governor-in-Council. The chairperson and CEO are appointed by the Governor-in-Council.
The NCC board of directors meets at least four times per year. Each meeting consists of an open, public session and an in camera session. The public is invited to attend the public meetings to observe. In camera sessions are attended only by board members and members of management to discuss matters that are confidential or that involve protected information.
Public board meetings are webcast live. Meeting agendas, minutes and documents are also posted on the NCC website.
