TRENTON – Today, 125 Canadian Army soldiers from the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Canadian Regiment (3 RCR), departed CFB Trenton for Eastern Europe as part of military activities undertaken by the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) to support NATO assurance measures in Eastern and Central Europe. Cheryl Gallant, Member of Parliament for Renfrew—Nipissing, was on hand in Petawawa, ON, to bid them farewell and Rick Norlock, Member of Parliament for Northumberland-Quinte West, gave brief remarks of support and encouragement at the troops’ last stop before departing Canada in Trenton, ON.
The 3 RCR contingent, part of 2 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group (2 CMBG) based in Garrison Petawawa, ON, will complement the advance party who are currently deployed under Operation REASSURANCE. The Land Task Force will participate in a series of multinational training opportunities that allow the Canadian Army to showcase its capabilities and further demonstrate its leadership capacity.
