On March 5, 2015, Rajan Mann, an inmate from the minimum security unit at Mission Institution was found unresponsive in the living unit bathroom.
Staff members immediately began performing CPR and emergency services were called. The inmate could not be resuscitated.
At the time of his death, Mr. Mann, 34 years old, had been serving a sentence of 9 years, for Extortion, Forcible Confinement, Kidnap, Robbery and Theft since July 6, 2012.
The inmate’s next of kin have been notified of his death.
As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the police and the coroner have been notified, and Correctional Service Canada will review the circumstances of the incident.
