Sudbury Airport Community Development Corporation

A FedNor investment of $1,000,000 will assist the Sudbury Airport Community Development Corporation to continue the expansion of its commercial air side lots. Specifically, the funding will be used to build a 32,000-square-foot aviation hangar to help with the expansion of existing businesses and to attract new ones such as aircraft specialty operators, air cargo and engineering companies.
Excellence in Manufacturing Consortium of Canada

Excellence in Manufacturing Consortium of Canada will receive $427,945 in FedNor funding to coordinate and deliver improved productivity training to Northern Ontario manufacturers. The specialty training, known as Lean Management System Training, will provide manufacturing managers with the skills and resources needed to implement and maintain improved productivity standards and practices.
Youth Initiatives

Since inception, FedNor has helped provide more than 1450 young post-secondary graduates with their crucial first job, and assisted countless local organizations and businesses in growing the economy by helping them access a qualified and talented workforce. This investment of more than $200,000 will enable seven recent post-secondary graduates to gain valuable on-the-job experience through FedNor's Youth Internship Initiative, helping the successful candidates make the transition from the campus to the workplace. The interns' responsibilities will range from participating in the delivery of economic development activities to research, marketing and e-commerce. Local organizations receiving up to $31,500 to hire a youth intern include:

Science North
$180,000
To enhance tourism in Northern Ontario, a FedNor investment of $180,000 will enable Science North to transport and display its Wildlife Rescue traveling exhibit in tourist attractions located in Sault Ste Marie, Kenora, Thunder Bay and Kirkland Lake. Designed to showcase real animals, as well as the people who are dedicated to supporting their survival, the Wildlife Rescue exhibit delivers an interactive visitor experience and unique, bilingual learning opportunities. Following its Northern Ontario stops, the exhibit will tour North America for a five-to-seven year period.
Conseil de la Coopération de l'Ontario

Provided through its Economic Development Initiative (EDI), FedNor is investing $98,500 in the Conseil de la coopération de l'Ontario. Specifically, the funding will enable this not-for-profit francophone organization, in partnership with the Ontario Co-operative Association, to translate, adapt and improve their respective training programs. The investment will also be used to support a variety of promotional activities.
Les productions Café-musique de Rayside-Balfour

A FedNor investment through the EDI of $41,300 will enable Les productions Café-musique de Rayside-Balfour to host the 400th Champlain Festival. Designed to commemorate the arrival of Samuel de Champlain in 1615, the festival will feature plays, music and a variety of family-oriented activities. The festival will take place in Sudbury's Bell Park on Saturday, June 13, 2015, and is expected to attract up to 3000 participants and help boost tourism in the region.
Northeastern Ontario Tourism

To help maximize the economic potential of the regional tourism industry, FedNor funding of $20,000 will assist Northeastern Ontario Tourism to create a product development strategy and implementation plan. Identified as a key priority in the organization's strategic plan, this initiative will focus on developing up to five new tourism initiatives for the region, while identifying short and long-term objectives, as well as potential partners and revenue streams.
Ontario Co-operative Association Inc.

FedNor funding of $10,750 will enable the Ontario Co-operative Association to coordinate and host the Northeastern Ontario Co-operative Conference. Taking place in Sudbury on March 26, 2015, the conference will feature networking and professional development sessions designed to encourage new partnerships and strategic alliances. The Northeastern Ontario Co-operative Conference will be a bilingual event that will be made available via videoconferencing throughout Northeastern Ontario.
