March 18, 2015 – Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – Western Economic Diversification Canada
The Canadian Lamb Producers Cooperative (CLPC) will be able to develop and implement an export plan for western Canadian lamb producers thanks to a $784,500 investment announced today by the Honourable Michelle Rempel, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification. The investment will increase western Canadian lamb producers’ ability to export an assortment of unique, value-added products.
Building on previous federal investments to establish a product grading system; CLPC will develop export focused marketing and food packaging materials and build a target list of up to 500 international retail and food service customers and 5-10 international food distributors.
This investment will give CLPC and western Canadian lamb producers the opportunity to develop international trade contacts and partnerships, develop distribution networks in international markets and participate in the global supply chain of value added and protein products.
