Revitalized defence infrastructure across Canada will provide the Canadian Armed Forces with the facilities they need to provide support to troops and military families, to support the Reserve forces, to support operations home and abroad, and to ensure the health and safety of our men and women in uniform.
At 4 Wing Cold Lake, a new Health Services Centre will ensure that our men and women in uniform have access to medical services, dental care and physiotherapy in a single, modern building. The existing dental, medical and physiotherapy clinics operate out of three separate buildings, which no longer meet the needs of these clinics. This new facility will allow for efficient operations, while ensuring that Canadian Armed Forces members receive the best available care. This project is valued at just under $14 million.
4 Wing is central to the Royal Canadian Air Force, and is the busiest fighter base in Canada. An investment of $15.8 million to complete repairs to the airfield will provide new surfaces to critical runways.
The Wing will also receive $16 million in funding for the recapitalization of military housing. This will include repairs to the exterior finishes, and the replacement of materials with longer lasting materials (such as metal roofing instead of asphalt shingles).
Overall project value (excluding GST): approximately $45.7 million.
