Finance Minister Joe Oliver today announced the appointment of the Honourable Carol Skelton to the Board of Directors of the Royal Canadian Mint. Mrs. Skelton has a wealth of experience in the private sector. In addition, she has represented Saskatchewan as a federal Member of Parliament and has served in various cabinet roles, including Minister of National Revenue and Minister of Western Economic Diversification. Her appointment is for a four-year term.
- The Royal Canadian Mint is the Crown corporation responsible for the minting and distribution of Canada’s circulation coins.
- The Mint is recognized as one of the largest and most versatile mints in the world, offering a wide range of specialized, high quality coinage products and related services on an international scale.

Carol Skelton is the former Member of Parliament for Saskatoon–Rosetown–Biggar. She was first elected in 2000, serving until 2008. While in office, she held various cabinet portfolios including Minister of National Revenue and Minister of Western Economic Diversification.
Mrs. Skelton has also served on the Boards of Directors of a number of organizations, including Information Services Corporation, Saskatchewan Opportunities Corporation and the Security Intelligence Review Committee as board member, chair and acting chair. She has also donated her time by volunteering in the community as a board member for the Saskatchewan Red Cross Executive, the Saskatchewan Child Welfare Review Panel and the Canadian 4-H Council.
