OTTAWA – The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada (Princess Louise’s) celebrated several accomplishments during an honours and awards parade today at the John Weir Foote V.C. Armoury in Hamilton, Ontario.
To commemorate the centenary of the regiment’s entry in the First World War, a plaque was dedicated and will be laid in France in May 2015.
The regiment also proudly received the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce’s “Citizen of the Year” award, which recognizes the city’s best citizenship and volunteerism. During the ceremony, the regiment thanked all of its members and the community for the exemplary courage, support, and unity they showed during the funeral in October 2014 of Corporal Nathan Cirillo, a member of their regiment. Several deserving members were also honoured for their dedication and outstanding performance.
