April 13, 2015 - Wabush, Newfoundland & Labrador - Transport Canada
A $9.8-million contract has been awarded to Construction DJL Inc. of Boucherville, Quebec, to reconstruct the runway at the Wabush Airport in Wabush, Newfoundland & Labrador.
The work will include constructing a new asphalt surface, adding granular material, improving drainage and replacing airfield lighting. Transport Canada will work closely with the contractor to ensure continued airport operations while the work is underway.
Construction is expected to begin in June 2015 and finish in September 2015.
Once complete, the runway will be equipped to provide continued safe and efficient airport operations to Wabush and its surrounding communities, well into the future.
