On March 30, 2015, Houstan Henderson, an inmate at Atlantic Institution died at a local hospital in Miramichi.
At the time of his death, Mr. Henderson, 55 years old, had been serving a sentence of four years, since October 19, 2011 for Break, Enter and Commit, Theft Under, and Failing to comply with conditions of undertaking or recognizance.
As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the police and the coroner have been notified, and the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances of the incident.
