OTTAWA—His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, will attend the funeral of the Honourable Pierre Claude Nolin, Speaker of the Senate. The service will take place at the Notre-Dame Basilica of Montréal, on Thursday, April 30, 2015, at 2 p.m.
“We have lost a great Canadian who dedicated his life to public service with integrity and a great sense of duty,” said the Governor General. “His 21 years in the Senate Chamber is proof of his strong commitment to the people of Canada. To many of us, he was a great inspiration and mentor. He will be greatly missed by his colleagues, friends and family.”
