OTTAWA – Media are invited to the reception for the Battle of the Atlantic gala dinner tomorrow evening, where nearly fifty Battle of the Atlantic veterans will be honoured. The annual event, hosted by the Naval Association of Canada with support from the Royal Canadian Navy, is in its third year and will be attended by Defence Minister Jason Kenney, General Tom Lawson, Chief of the Defence Staff, Vice-Admiral Mark Norman, Commander Royal Canadian Navy, as well as veterans, members of different naval organizations, industry, and the diplomatic community.
WHEN: April 30, 2015. The reception runs from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
WHERE: Canadian War Museum, 1 Vimy Place
WHAT: Media will have the opportunity to take photos, and meet with veterans as well as members of the naval community.
The Battle of the Atlantic commemorated each year on the first Sunday in May, officially ended on Victory-Europe Day on May 8, 1945. It was the longest, largest, and the most complex campaign of the Second World War.
