Project made possible by the New Building Canada Plan
April 17, 2015 – Dieppe, New Brunswick – Infrastructure Canada
Federal, provincial and municipal officials gathered today to announce that the Government of Canada has identified the project to improve Acadie Avenue/Amirault Street for funding consideration of up to $4.4 million under the New Building Canada Plan in New Brunswick.
Announcing the funding was Robert Goguen, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice and Member of Parliament for Moncton–Riverview–Dieppe, on behalf of the Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec. He was joined by the Honourable Brian Gallant, Premier of New Brunswick, the Honourable Roger Melanson, Minister of Finance and Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, and Mayor of Dieppe, Yvon Lapierre.
This project involves reconstructing 1.1 kilometres of Acadie/Amirault between Alain Gillette Street and Chartersville Road. The underlying infrastructure will also be improved as part of the project. This work will support efforts to reduce congestion, effectively manage traffic volume, and reduce travel times.
The New Building Canada Plan is the largest and longest federal infrastructure plan in Canada’s history. This unprecedented commitment is providing $53 billion to support provincial, territorial and municipal infrastructure from 2014-24.
Over this ten-year period, New Brunswick will benefit from approximately $866 million in dedicated federal funding, including almost $394 million under the New Building Canada Fund.
