Government of Canada supports commercialization activities of 2015 MasterCard Memorial Cup

Organizing committee of 2015 MasterCard Memorial Cup 2015 sets out to attract visitors from outside Quebec to tournament featuring Canada’s top four junior hockey teams, on from May 21 to 31 in Québec City

April 28, 2015 – Québec, Quebec - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, announces that the organization Championnat junior Québec 2015 has been granted financial assistance to reach out to foreign markets.

This support has been awarded in the form of a $90,000 non-repayable financial contribution through CED’s Quebec Economic Development Program.

Quick facts

The funds will enable organizers to carry out various activities aimed at commercializing, on markets outside Quebec, a sporting event that will generate major economic and tourism spinoffs for the Québec region.
Seen as Canada’s most prestigious national junior hockey tournament, the Memorial Cup is followed by thousands of fans from all corners of the country.
The media coverage generated by the event will help serve as a tourism showcase for the Québec region.
