April 14, 2015 – Edmundston, NB – Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA)
IPL Inc. is rolling out a new thin-walled plastic container, SnapPack, for the food industry thanks to support from the Governments of Canada and New Brunswick.
The Honourable Bernard Valcourt, Minister of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development and Member of Parliament for Madawaska-Restigouche, and the Honourable Francine Landry, Minister of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour, Minister responsible for La Francophonie and MLA for Madawaska Les Lacs-Edmundston made the announcement today in Edmundston with company officials.
The project involved the purchase and installation of two new high tech robots and molds, allowing the company to produce its new line of thin-walled plastic containers. The new technology uses 15% less plastic and produces the new containers 20% faster than the ones the company previously produced at the Edmundston plant.
The Government of Canada, through ACOA’s Business Development Program, is providing a repayable contribution of $1,000,000 to support this project. The Province of New Brunswick is making a contribution of $336,000, while the company itself is investing $704,060 in the project.
