April 22, 2015-- Kouchibouguac, New Brunswick Parks Canada
Tilly O’Neill Gordon, Member of Parliament for Miramichi, on behalf of the Honourable Leona Aglukkaq, Minister of the Environment and Minister responsible for Parks Canada, today reflected on the remarkable 2014 visitor season in Kouchibouguac National Park while Parks Canada readies for the upcoming 2015 season.
With the introduction of compelling new visitor experience opportunities and creative collaborations within local and regional tourism communities, there are so many ways to enjoy New Brunswick’s Acadian coast region. It’s not surprising that visitation at Kouchibouguac National Park increased last year.
Whether discovering the park’s natural beauty through its trails, enjoying Parks Canada’s Red Chair Program, or cycling on Kouchibouguac’s extensive bike trail network of more than 60 kilometres, visitors are invited to explore and enjoy the park like never before. Don’t forget to check-out this year’s new programming including two fun-filled festivals: the new Dancing Dune Festival and our returning Fabulous Fall Festival. Relaxing on Kellys Beach, part of the 25 km of rolling sand dunes, may be more to your liking or visit Ryans to try out water sport equipment rental like our new paddle boards.
With a new modernized South Kouchibouguac Campground boasting fully serviced and partially serviced sites, enjoy all the wonders Kouchibouguac National Park has to offer in the comfort of your own RV. You can also experience one of two new camping experiences: oTENTiks and All Equipped Campsites. So, whether you want to try out new things or continue to enjoy the classics of frontcountry and backcountry camping, Kouchibouguac National Park has something for everyone.
Parks Canada is proud to support Canada's National Conservation Plan by taking concrete action to connect Canadians to nature. In addition, the ongoing work of Parks Canada and its programs – like Signature Voyageur Canoe Adventure, Mi’kmaq Cultural Discoveries, Wigwam Gatherings, Lagoon Life, Guided Bike Outings, Citizen Science Program, Outdoor Theatres, Campfire Programs and other exciting new programs – are enhancing visitor experience and facilitating personal connections with Parks Canada places across the country.
