Ottawa, April 22, 2015—The Honourable James Moore, Minister of Industry, made the following statement:
"I was pleased to hear that Kelly Gillis, Associate Deputy Minister at Industry Canada, is being recognized as one of 15 outstanding leaders and achievers at the Women in Communications and Technology (WCT) Annual Awards. Specifically, Kelly has earned the Leadership Excellence: Public Sector Leadership Award.
"Kelly has been Industry Canada's champion for WCT since 2012. That same year, under her leadership, Industry Canada was recognized as Employer of the Year - Outstanding Overall Gender Diversity Performance for its leadership in the advancement of women.
"Kelly has been instrumental in championing Canada's transition to a digital economy, guiding efforts across government to create a digital and connected Canada. I am pleased to show Kelly the appreciation she so richly deserves."
