Ottawa, April 1st, 2015 – Today, the Honourable Steven Blaney, Canada’s Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, made this statement following the arrests in Toronto and Montreal of six individuals who will be charged with the operation of a prostitution ring that victimized young women alleged to have been smuggled into Canada. The RCMP, CBSA, Service de Police de la Ville de Montréal, Aéroports de Montréal Airport Security and the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada worked together to makes these arrests possible.
“I applaud the excellent work by members of these law enforcement agencies. These arrests are an excellent example of the fine work they do on a daily basis to protect those who are victimized in this manner. We continue to support our law enforcement agencies and their partners who work tirelessly to ensure our communities are safe places to live, work and raise families.”
