April 1, 2015 - Ottawa, Ontario - Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada
The Honourable Ed Fast, Minister of International Trade, today announced the appointment of Heather Culbert to the board of directors of Export Development Canada (EDC). The appointment is for three years.
Ms. Culbert, of Calgary, Alberta, brings to the board her 27 years of extensive experience in the oil and gas sector. Prior to her retirement from Enerplus Corporation, a mid-sized oil and gas company where she served as senior vice-president of corporate services, she held senior management positions with Cody Energy and Suncor.
EDC is a key partner under Canada’s Global Markets Action Plan (GMAP), the government’s blueprint for creating jobs and economic growth through exports. Through GMAP, the Harper Government is ensuring that Canadian small and medium-sized enterprises receive the full range of support and services they need to find real export success in global markets, which creates jobs and opportunities for workers and their families here at home.
“I am pleased to announce the appointment of Heather Culbert to the EDC board of directors. She brings a broad and deep experience in the energy sector to EDC’s board of directors.
“With GMAP, through economic diplomacy and under a whole-of-government approach to export, the Harper Government has revolutionized Canada’s trade-promotion efforts by ensuring Canadian businesses receive the tools and support they need to succeed in global markets, in turn creating jobs and economic growth here at home.”
