The National Film Board of Canada (NFB) has received five nominations and three honourable mentions at the 19th
Webby Awards, the Internet's highest honour.
The public has a chance to cast their votes for their pick of the best of the Internet at http://pv.webbyawards.com.
Voting for the Webby People's Voice Awards is open from now until Thursday, April 23, at 11:59 p.m. PST.
Winners will be announced on April 27, with the Webby Awards presentation taking place May 18.
One of the world's leading digital-content hubs, the NFB has won eight Webby Awards to date.
NFB nominees at the 19th Webby Awards:
Created by the NFB, The Guardian and Jam3, Seven Digital Deadly Sins received three Webby nominations, for NetArt
and Activism in the Websites category, as well as for Best Use of Interactive Video in the Online Film & Video
category. It also received an honourable mention for Online Film & Video: Documentary: Individual Episode. Seven
Digital Deadly Sins was produced for the NFB by its English-language Digital Studio in Vancouver, led by executive
producer Loc Dao.
The first-ever collaboration between the NFB and the Argentine Ministry of Education's television channel,
Encuentro, the web-based collaborative experience Primal was nominated in the Websites: Weird category. Primal was
produced for the NFB by the Digital Studio in Montreal, led by Hugues Sweeney.
The NFB was also nominated for its acclaimed stop-motion animation application for iPad, StopMo Studio, in the
Mobile Sites & Apps: Services & Utilities category.
In addition, the NFB received two honourable mentions: Circa 1948, co-created by the NFB and Stan Douglas, was an
honouree for Mobile Sites & Apps: Education & Reference, while The Devil's Toy Redux, a global online skate-culture
experience inspired by Claude Jutra's pioneering skateboard film, received an honourable mention for Online Film &
Video: Video Remixes/Mashups.
