This evening’s Gala Artis celebrated outstanding television professionals and offered an opportunity for audiences to recognize Quebec’s small-screen artists by choosing the winners themselves.
The quality of the work produced by this community in Canada’s television industry never fails to amaze. I am impressed by the abundance of creativity and talent of all the nominees and award winners.
Our Government supports the audiovisual sector by investing more than $660 million annually through Telefilm Canada, the National Film Board of Canada, the Canada Media Fund and tax credit programs. In 2013–14, film and television production volume in Canada increased to almost $5.9 billion and created over 125,000 full-time jobs.
On behalf of Prime Minister Stephen Harper and the Government of Canada, I congratulate all the nominees and award recipients at tonight’s 30th Gala Artis.
