The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), the Centre for International and Defence Policy at Queen’s University in Kingston, and the United States (U.S.) Army War College will host the 10th annual Kingston Conference on International Security (KCIS) in Kingston, Ontario. The conference begins today at the Marriott Residence Inn and runs through May 13, 2015.
This year’s KCIS brings together academics and practitioners from the military, industry, non-governmental organizations, and international institutions to discuss robotics and military operations, as well as the strategic decisions associated with these technologies.
“I am proud of the partnership between Queen’s University, the Canadian Armed Forces and the U.S. Army War College. Gaining more knowledge of current and emerging technologies in the areas of robotics and unmanned systems will help strengthen our understanding of the role they can play in military operations. Just as we train with our international allies, this partnership allows the military to explore issues of importance to international security.”
Lieutenant-General Marquis Hainse, Commander Canadian Army
“This year’s conference provides the perfect venue where both military and civilian experts can examine the integration of automated and robotic systems and their implications on the Canadian Army and Canadian Armed Forces today, tomorrow and in the future.”
Major-General Jean-Marc Lanthier, Commander Canadian Army Doctrine and Training Centre
“It is exciting to bring together military and civilian participants to discuss and debate an issue that will be at the forefront of military operations in the years to come.”
Kim Richard Nossal, Director of the School of Policy Studies at Queen’s University
