OTTAWA – Members of the media are invited to attend the military burial of Private Albert Laubenstein on May 6, 2015. This burial is part of the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Netherlands commemorative events, May 3-9, 2015 and attendance will include members of Pte Laubenstein’s family, and representatives from the Government of Canada and the Canadian Armed Forces.
Pte Laubenstein was killed during the Battle of Kapelsche Veer on January 26, 1945, and his body was interred with care in a battlefield grave, which could not be re-located at the end of the war. His remains were discovered in June 2014 and his identification announced in the spring of 2015.

Cemetery directions: The Bergen-op-Zoom Canadian War Cemetery is on Ruytershoveweg Road, which runs parallel with the A58 Bergen-op-Zoom to Roosendaal motorway. The cemetery is located near to the Bergen-op-Zoom War Cemetery and can be reached from the motorway by taking the Bergen-op-Zoom exit, which leads on to Rooseveltlaan. At the first crossroads, the cemeteries are signposted to the right, with a further signposted right turn after 1 kilometre, and the cemeteries are 1.5 kilometres along this road on the left-hand side.
