The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced today a significant seizure of 2 kg of suspected opium at Hamilton International Airport.
On April 13, 2015, CBSA officers conducting courier examinations inspected a shipment declared as “shoes.” Officers emptied the contents of one cardboard box that felt unusually heavy and had an “earthy” smell to it. Further investigation led to the discovery of the suspected opium, found concealed within the cardboard plies of the box.
The suspected opium was turned over to York Regional Police and they have arrested one suspect in connection with this crime.
