OTTAWA - Members of the media are invited to attend the military burial of eight Canadian First World War soldiers on May 13, 2015 at Caix British Cemetery in Caix, France. In attendance will be family members of the soldiers and representatives from the Government of Canada and the Canadian Armed Forces.
All eight members were located in 2006 and 2007 and deemed to be from Winnipeg's 78th Battalion. In 2014, Lieutenant Clifford Neelands, Lance Sergeant Oscar Lindell, and Privates Sidney Halliday, William Simms, and Lachlan McKinnon were positively identified. These soldiers were killed on August 11, 1918 during an advance to capture the small village of Hallu, located in the Somme region of northern France.
When: May 13, 2015, media to be in location by 1:30 p.m. (Central European Timezone).
Where: Caix British Cemetery in Caix, France.

Cemetery directions: The village of Caix is situated about 28 kilometres south-east of Amiens, midway between the N29, Amiens to St. Quentin road, and the D934, Amiens to Roye road. The cemetery is south of the village. There is limited vehicle access and parking at the cemetery. Those attending the event are to meet Canadian Armed Forces personnel at the Hotel De Ville Caix where shuttle transport will be provided to the cemetery starting at 1:00 p.m.
