Government of Canada supports the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation of Canada
May 19, 2015 – Etobicoke, Ontario – Canadian Heritage
Canadians will be able to consult information in both official languages on the website of the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation of Canada, thanks to $5,000 in financial support from the Government of Canada. This will provide French-speaking patients, their families and healthcare specialists with information on polycystic kidney disease, research results and details of meetings to discuss the disease.
The Foundation is also hoping that translation will help recruit French-speaking volunteers for its Montréal chapter, created in 2014. Bernard Trottier, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and for La Francophonie and Member of Parliament (Etobicoke–Lakeshore), made the announcement today on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.
“Our Government is a leader in promoting our two official languages across the country. Through this support, we are helping ensure that the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation of Canada can communicate with Canadians in both English and French.”
—The Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages
“Our two official languages are an integral part of the history and identity of our country. This support makes it easier to share information about polycystic kidney disease, a crucial area for the health of Canadians.”
—Bernard Trottier, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and for La Francophonie and Member of Parliament (Etobicoke–Lakeshore)
