May 8, 2015 — Burk's Falls, Ontario — Industry Canada/FedNor
The Honourable Tony Clement, MP for Parry Sound–Muskoka and President of the Treasury Board, on behalf of the Honourable Greg Rickford, Canada's Minister of Natural Resources and Minister for the Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario (FedNor), announced today an investment to strengthen the economic outlook for the Township of Ryerson and surrounding communities, and to help the region capitalize on business and economic development opportunities.
An investment of $298,100, provided through FedNor's Community Investment Initiative for Northern Ontario (CIINO), will enable the Township of Ryerson, in partnership with the Village of Burk's Falls and Armour Township, to hire an economic development officer (EDO) for a three-year period to implement key economic development and growth initiatives for the region.
Some of the regional projects to be undertaken by the EDO include undertaking a marketing plan to increase tourism activity in the region, creating and implementing a business retention and expansion plan, and developing an industrial park opportunity.
