The Honourable Greg Rickford, Canada's Minister of Natural Resources and Minister for the Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario (FedNor), announced today a Government of Canada investment to support economic and business growth, jobs and long-term prosperity in Kasabonika Lake First Nation.
A FedNor investment of $151,000 will enable Kasabonika Lake First Nation to develop a five-year economic and business strategic plan for three of the community's business entities, including the Kasabonika Lake First Nation Resources LP, Kasabonika Resources Corporation, and the Kasabonika Community Development Corporation. The project will involve the development of an economic development strategy, an integrated corporate business plan, as well as governance and leadership sessions.
Identified as a local priority, this strategic initiative will help Kasabonika Lake First Nation capitalize on emerging business and economic development opportunities related to forestry, energy generation and mining, including the Ring of Fire development.
