Renovated exhibit and an authentic 1812 experience awaits as National Historic Site opens for 2015 season

Jeff Watson, Member of Parliament for Essex (Ontario), on behalf of the Honourable Leona Aglukkaq, Minister of the Environment and Minister responsible for Parks Canada, will welcome visitors to Fort Malden National Historic Site as it opens for the season on May 16 at 10 a.m.
Following a two year closure, the site’s Interpretation Centre, otherwise known as Hough House, is now open and newly renovated. Be sure to discover its fascinating collection of artefacts from the War of 1812 and Rebellion of 1837-38.
This season, Parks Canada will be offering a number of interesting activities at Fort Malden sure to please any audience. Have you ever witnessed the thrill of a live musket demonstration or a cannon firing? Come to the fort and see this and much more including captivating garden tours, guided walks and savory cookhouse demonstrations. Bring the kids as they’ll love our hands-on activities.
