Market Development Program Launched

May 28, 2015 – Halifax, Nova Scotia – Agriculture and Agri-Food (AAFC)

The agriculture, agri-food and seafood industries will benefit from a new program to expand market share and foster economic growth.

The three-year Market Development and Investment Attraction program begins in the 2015-16 fiscal year with $450,000 available each year.

Quick facts

The market development program will help agriculture, agri-food and seafood businesses to:
- access new markets;
- improve competitiveness;
- increase added-value and market driven initiatives, increase partnerships and collaboration between sectors; and
- improve capacity to attract and retain investment.
Seafood businesses applying to the program will qualify for projects targeting international market opportunities.
The new program is funded under Growing Forward 2, the five-year framework agreement for agriculture which is cost-shared 60-40 between the federal and provincial governments.
